The gentlemen on the left are Albert Vickers and Sigmund Loewe, whose other claim to fame was to be one of the first to get themselves killed in a car crash.

I think you hit the nail on the head John, I joined the NRA and received the American Rifleman around that time (still belong) and I bet that's where I used to see the ad, thanks.

Your math is not correct, you just calculated 25% out of 598.4 when in fact you had to multiply $25 by 598.4 rate of inflation which also won't be correct because it will not take into account compound effect of inflation over the years.

Joe, I did multiply the price of the Luger, $25.00 by the rate of inflation which I believe was 598.4% and that is how I arrived at a price of $149.60 as of last Nov. As far as taking the time to calculate the compound effect of inflation over a period of nearly 42 years it just wasn't worth the effort I was just looking for a ball park figure but thank you for your input. If you would like to do that I would appreciate your effort, I think it would be interesting to see the final figure. Thanks, Lon

Using simple compound formula for 42 years and your numbers we arrive at: $6065.66 |
