Is that a trademark of some kind on the sideplate?

Hello Saxman,

The Erfurt inspection stamp is a crown with a gothic letter assigned to an inspector...

Pete,

I have the perfect solution to your dilemma--you send me your Erfurt and I will send you a shooter for Ted to do a "Doll Job" on!

Hello Hugh,

I was wondering when someone would offer this.

I think I will hold onto this one until a "better" Erfurt crosses my path. I wanted an Erfurt but not necessarily a police Erfurt.

When I find another, I will gladly give you first crack at this police Erfurt,..with no price mark-ups...

Regards,

Pete

Thanks, Pete. Naturally I was joking, as your gun is worth more than a common "shooter".

However, I appreciate your offer, and would like to have the gun whenever you upgrade as I am particularly fond of the police guns.

Very nice gun Pete!

I have a 1913 ERFURT ( see post ) but it does not have that vertical cut on the frame behind the sideplate?

What is that cut

Is it from the 1920 rework? From Police issue?

Thanks,

kidvett

Good Morning, Marc (aka Kidvette...) :

The vertical cut is where the magazine safety device is attached to the frame.

If you switch to the Forum section titled "Luger Accessories", look for a message thread back on 7-23-02 that was named "Magazine Safety Scan For Dough George".

There is a nice diagram and photo and description of this safety device.

Regards,

Pete...

Very nice grips. Are they proofed to the gun?

Good Morning, Aaron,

Yes, both grips have a crown/gothic letter stamp and then "04" stamped as well.

Unfortunately, an owner at some point in time also carved the intials "EF" on the inside of the left grip panel wiith crude knife cuts (or I assume these are name initials...). Maybe his name was "Earl Forte" and was from the South where his name sounds like "Erfurt" (just kidding, of course...)

Regards,

Pete

Hello Pete,

Thanks for the info. I took a look at that scan of the mag safety....

Were mag safety installed only on early Police pistols?

The only Police LUGER I have is a 42 Banner and it has only a sear safety

thanks,

Kidvett
