I just returned from the show and competition organized by Antonio and his friends. I will report more about it later, as I am getting ready for our annual Oberndorf Kü-club event as well.
No trouble was spared to make us feel welcome, the food, drinks and company was wonderful and we got to see some very rare Spanish pistols, as well as some of my favorites, a small selection of post war Parabellum pistols. The shooting range is located in a fantastic looking environment, the rugged Spanish country area. The complex has a 25 meter range, a 50 meter range as well as a 100 meter rifle range. Fellow author Albrecht Simon from Germany held a lecture about Spanish pistols and US collector and author Leonardo Antaris and his wife were also present. Our books were presented as gifts to winners of the competition and it was an honor and a pleasure to be able to present the books to them in person. The entire experience was excellent, and it is good to see that the Spanish pistol heritage is being protected by an enthusiastic group of collectors and sports shooters. The concept of the competition was interesting: Points were also awarded for the rareness of the pistol with which the competition was shot. Antonio, thank you again to you and your friends for making this possible! |

OK...I give up... what is that apparent "folding trigger" semi-auto being shown on the screen in the background?

Wonderful! Thank you for the information. I once owned a beautiful 1913 Campo Giro but sadly I no longer have it.

Wow! Let me guess who is who....
On the 6th picture, the guy on left with black T-shirt and blue jeans must be Vlim (matching the image engraved on the glass well, I'm confident). On the 4th picture, the guy holding the Astra book must be Leo Antaris (had seen his picture on the book before, with glasses though)... Just guesstimation... accurate? |

I love the eye wear! Haven't seen such equipment at my indoor gun range here in Kalifornia.

Shooting 900 with single hand is cool. Very hard and needs lots of practice though. In the old recording, it claimed that good shooters practiced aiming at the tip of burning candle ~30 yards at night. Hard to believe, but it's definitely an interesting way.

Shooting Astra 900 is cool. I have not gotten a chance to fire one. This gun is rarer than many Mauser variations in the U.S.
