I believe only original carbines are exempt. Recreations are not. This one is not even built on an original carbine frame. IMHO

But being built with a 16" barrel makes this irrelevant... It does not meet the BATFE short barreled rifle (SBR) definition. No exemption from the National Firearms Act of 1934 is required.

Interesting...How do you tell an original carbine frame from say a 1917 Luger frame???

What about Luger carbines built in Germany back in the '20's by gunsmiths, from left-over or even discarded Great War pistols? Perhaps by a well-known gunsmith located in Vor See; are they exempt? Who says if they are or aren't 'original'???

Who says if they are or aren't 'original'?? Only the "Shadow" knows.

It could also be the little guy in the ATF hidden office that only comes out to see his shadow.

Ed, enjoy the moment.

Ed, we've all been rootin' for ya, and this is the post we've been waiting for. That is all I will say until Saturday evening when we hear from you again!

p.s. Better brush up on trigger finger etiquette and muzzle control (in the pic). May I have one of those cinnamon buns?

Hi Ed, I hope it's going to come in a fitted case with all the accessories. Eugene can hardly expect you to take it home in a paper bag.
Best regards, Norm

Good luck Ed. I hope that it is 100% to your desires. You have been most fair to Eugene, and hopefully he realizes it. A bad result/product would be the kiss of death for him on this forum. I choose to think positive for you.

Jerry, I agree but hold for the result. Eds' venture evidenced a tolerant friend who wanted a custom carbine built by one of the then believed one of the finest!. I have gained so much more respect through this last year in his patience and reserve. He chose to share it with us regardless of the delay or comments! Yes soon he will hold the baby in his arms. You have a group of believers and supporters at your back!!

Norme:

Don't hold your breath on the paper bag. I traveled 300+ miles to get delivery on my item from the same man and all of it was loose: pistol, stock, extra mag and a box of shells. No container at all. I had expected it would be packed in a box.
Jack
I suggest taking a gun case.

let me direct you to junglejims thread about Lugerman.com...I read this whole thread and took a close look at the pictures. The wood on these pics is horrible. Looks like Georgia pine. Dead looking with no color. Plus the grip fit is way out of spec. Whoever is doing this guy's woodwork isn't up to 1920 standards.
