Hi vonfranco, byf 42, serial number 4752i was completed about June 1942. The correct magazine is a fxo type with either aluminum or black plastic bottom un-numbered.
Thanks for the data. |

Newbie here.
5834F No gauge numbers I see. Love the markings on the holster. Same old questions. What do I have? Is it German Military? Thank you, Marvin Last edited by MrHat102; 02-10-2015 at 08:43 AM. Reason: Pictures |

kpf, thanks for the information. Your 42 byf, serial number 4700b should have a bore gage. Is it possible the pistol was rebarreled?
I have a 41 byf, Z-Block the doesn't have a bore gage, so your Luger might be correct. Please let me know. |

Hello Frank
I don't think so the number 4700 is at the correct place! Regards Kai |

kpf, it just could be mistake or a pistol that was rebarreled at a later date. Let us call it a good one!! Thanks again!

kpf, the suffix on your 42 byf is "D", not "B". So it shouldn't have any bore gage on the barrel. Thanks for the pictures!!

I recently bought a 42 byf, which is Russian dipped and stamped as import on the barrel. The Serial no is 116 l and frame is marked E/135 E/135 and eagle. The barrel is marked 116, but no chamber dimensions. Maybe a new barrel as it has stamped "luger P.08 9mm Germany" and imported by CAI***. When I inspected it found a replacement firing pin and sunburst markings on trigger guard. It shoots o.k. but I got a used mauser firing pin from Tom Heller. Haven't tried the mauser firing pin, but I do not expect any problem. Joe Inabnett

I shot my byf 42 luger today with replacement mauser firing pin. No 611 l performs perfectly, recycles and is accurate for my short test fire. This is a Vopo rework with sunburst stamping. I am happy with this latest addition. Joe Inabnett

Joe, Happy to learn that all is well with the new FP. Your pistol was among the last sent to the German army, as most in the m and N suffix blocks went to Portugal on contract. TH

Lugerdoc For your info, I also test fired the vopo replacement FP, which had a slightly different appearance than the standard mauser. It too fired consistently, but I am keeping the Mauser F.P. as more original to the 42 byf. Thanks for your help. Joe
