I suspect the "hats" photo is a staged shot indicating that the individual had been promoted and was now authorized to wear "scrambled eggs" on his cap visor and is discarding his old cap overboard.

Ron the hat being tossed overboard is a Chiefs hat so my guess is he got Commissioned and was tossing the enlisted life behind.

You know you are old when you find this in your desk drawer lookingI I found the Ford Stockholder Pass for the 1964 Worlds' Fair! Mom owned a 1960 Ford Fairlane, 195 horse, Skymist Blue, N.J. Tag FRX-615 I guess the pass came from our Ford dealership! It found with all my childhood memories attached! Eric
