Identifying Luger
Guy I ran across has a Luger for sale. He sent one blurry picture, and I am trying to identify and value. It has a longer than 4" barrel, but not sure exact length. It is marked Mauser in a banner on the toggle; along with that it has "original" in cursive. Some sort of spread eagle on the chamber. It has a grip safety. He described the gun as a P-08, not sure if it is so marked. I am getting further information from him, but don't haven anything else yet.
Another question, when were the last Mausers made? I know this is not much to go on, but any guess on value? Finish looks excellent. What about if refinished? The originality is not confirmed. Thanks for any help. |

I have a feeling this may be a recent gun?
Based on condition and some other things, I wonder if this is very post-war?

This is one of the post-war 1970's Mausers
I have seen them sell used from $550 to about $800 new. The quality is there... it all depends on what pleases your eye asthetically. My personal preference is for the WWII guns, but if I had one of these in my safe, it would be there until I die... I am not selling anymore of my guns ever... Welcome to the forum Jim. You can learn much here even if you don't buy this one. Decide what you want, seek advice on value, and buy what pleases you no matter what the cost. Life is too short to do without if you have the spare change. I used these words already this week (in case they sound familiar) for Marianne, but they are appropriate to re-use... Please take time to post a profile and tell us a little about yourself and your interest in Luger pistols. The link "edit your profile" is at the top of the main discussion page, and doing so locks your ID so no one can post using your name. Read a few of the posted profiles to see what I mean using the "view user profiles" link in the same place. Reveal only information that your are comfortable doing so in a public forum... Come back and visit the Lugerforum often Jim... John Sabato http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/InterarmsSwiss.jpg |

Definitely Post War
Yes, I agree this is one of the Interarms post war models made by Mauser, and this Swiss copy is the most common version they made. Nice to play with and show to friends who don't know one Luger from another.

Re: This is one of the post-war 1970's Mausers
In the early seventies, there was a shortlived magazine called "Gunfacts." They had a multi month article about the Mauser Lugers then being produced. I have the last three but never got the first installment. Does anyone out there have it? Is anyone interested in copies of the ones that I have? Don't ask why I still have them but I do. I would just need to dig them out of a box in the garage!

Magazines
I looked and could not find the magazines I thought that I had. Maybe someone else has them and can post the articles. Sorry everyone!

I don't think they all had a grip safety. I have seen photos of them
without one, more on the P-08 style, but without a stock lug.
