Labels for Lugers
Thought about having some made for display Cases or Wall displays. The one shown below illustrates a nice contrast between the letters and background to really highlight the text. Has anyone had some of these made? Frank was looking into some Brass ones and they were more expensive and I dont think would have had this good a contrast so he and I dropped that idea. Wonder who would make these? Ted

Re: Labels for Lugers
Ted,
I looked on the internet at the machines that make this type label and they cost approx. $800-1,000 each. It would probably cost $5-6 to have this type made from a commercial source. Even thought I would like to have them, the cost of $5 each would be more than I want to put into them. I would like to have more onfo on mine such as Model, date, mfg. date, and a description. My local Collectors Association wants me to show my German Pistol Collection at their shows and the labels would be great, but for over 100 pistols, that would be expensive. I hope someone has some good ideas. Marvin |

Re: Labels for Lugers
These are available at many office supply and sign shops, as well as engraving places such as "Things Remembered" in the malls. It is my belief that they charge by the letter, and if you made some kind of deal based on quantity, you may even get a really good rate. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Back in the days.......
when I used to display at shows.....that seems like a long time ago!!....I had labels made that showed the pistol type and then gave a brief history about that particular variation, I had them printed on a computer (back in the days where this was a new thing!) using the type and color of paper I wanted, along with the size and type of print that I felt was necessary........I then cut them to a uniform size and had the individual labels plastic laminated, my plan was to then affix them to angled wood or plastic forms so people could see the info. easier! never got that far, so I just arranged the labels alongside or under the pistols, looked pretty nice! The above method also gives one the flexibility to start over if the color clashes or the text is wrong, without a lot of expense.....till...later...G.T.

Re: Labels for Lugers
Ted,
Perhaps I can now repay a debt. Some years ago when I was attending shows in which NASA participated I to was agast at the cost of labeling the displays . Since the entrance of digital foto printing at home I think that you could make your lebels with any of dozen or more photo processing programs and supplimental art programs that they all have . Print these on Glossy Photo Paper or perhaps if you wish Inkjet Transparency Film which could then be laminated or contact cemented on a suitable backing to suit your taste. I have of late made some very attractive labels and place settings in this fashion . Viggo |
