1917 on side Rail?
Hello
I've got a question about my 1917 Navy Luger. The side rail on the left side of frame does not have the 1917 number stamped on it. Did some of these 1917 Navy luger's not have this number stamped on the left side rail? It has the 1917 number stamped under the front site but not on the left side rail as the books show. Thanks for your help -Tom |

I have never seen a Navy Type 14 that did not have the date stamp (In same font) in both places.

Hi Tom,

Tom,
There is more to Navy Luger verification than just serial numbers. Check Tom Armstrong's post at the top of the Navy Luger forum here. Also, if yo go to Jan Still's forums http://www.gunboards.com/luger/default.asp and check the Navy Luger forum there you will find several detailed forensic examination discussion which you should find helpful. --Dwight |
