Navy stock seen
Was browsing around in Martin Rettig's shop in Culver City, Cal. late last week. He has s Navy stock for sale, proper C/M proof on the disc, but no unit mark. The attaching iron has the serial #8598 stamped on it. They are asking $1.5K. Has several minor dings on the wood. Phone # 310-837-2412. I have no personal or financial interest in this item and thought maybe someone out there has a Navy bearing this number. What a find if you do!

Retting's is a blast from the past. Back in my salad days in the late '50's and early '60's, Retting had some really great stuff. Unfortunately, I had salad then, not money.
Trying to make up for it now. Tom A. |

Well, I got replies, but not what I had imagined. I thought I would have heard from the owner of 1917 Navy Luger #8598, but oh well. The only Lugers they had were (1) 1920 commercial with mismatched take down lever, $800 and (2) a 1920's Swiss commercial "i" series, with the Swiss sunburst, all matching, about 85-90% straw and finish, $2K. And Pete, my wife and daughter were at the beach, a place not for fair skinned me!
