schiwy sear safety stocks.
hello to all, my father has an undated chamber (1920 commercial?) 9mm DWM P08 that has the schiwy safety. the gun is pretty nice considering it was a carry piece in th 1950s. the stocks are pretty beat and i'd like to find a replacement set. i'd keep the originals, of course. i've seen repros but never with the proper cuts to fit my dad's gun. i'm sure real ones would be fairly steep, yes? depending on the price that would be an option. any help would be appreciated.

You see real grips on e-bay all the time. I have found repro grips to fit and not fit.
Hey, WELCOME to the forum!!! So, yours is a police model, the safety was put on around 1933. I'd like to know more and especially see pictures! Ed

I'll have to look, but I think I have some grips for a sear safety. Will PM you later on tonight. If your grips are not gouged, but just worn have Hugh Clark re cut the checkering.

I'm puzzled! I know the upper left corner of the left grip was cut off for a mag safety but wasn't aware that the grips required any modification for a sear safety. Could someone enlighten me?

Don, I was typing fast before I left for work and typed incorrectly. I did mean to say the mag safety, not sear safety.

the stocks are very worn and the left side is broken back by the safety lever. i don't have any way to post a pic now but i'll talk to a friend who is computer savvy and has a digital camera. the background is that my father bought it in the early '50s after he got out of the USMC and it did carry and home defense duty up until the early '70s. i'll check my PMs now...

that looks like it. i have been informed that the sear safety did not need to have the stock modified but the mag safety did. with the stock on the P08 the notch above the mag release button has a square of metal visible with a round hole in it. the side plate (from above) is cut and the side of the left frame has a small verticle notch/cut in it.
