Post An historic Colt 1911Navy...

This Colt serial number 810, was is in the first shipment to the Navy in 1912, and it was subsequently shipped to the USS Delaware. The Delaware was scrapped as a result of the 1922 Naval Conference reducing the size of the world's Navies to minimize the chances of war, yeah right!

This Colt was then sent in 1937 to the historic US Coast Guard Station on Cape Cod at Chatham, Mass. , which by the way is still in operation. What a history, if it could just talk! At some time in its career the frame and slide were rust blued over the original Colt blue, however fortunately it was not stripped or polished and some of the original finish is still visable.

Enjoy!!!!
