SE NAPCA CONVENTION
I am seriously considering going to the NAPCA convention in Chattanooga, Tenn. on August 27, 28 and 29. I would like to take my motorhome and park it and stay in it for the time that I am there. I called the hotel about parking it in their secured parking lot and they gave me the impression that the lot was made for cars only. They said that I could do what I wanted by parking in the lot across the street which isn't a secure as the hotels parking lot. My question is, has anybody taken their motorhome to this hotel for this convention and just how secure is that parking lot? I am a little afraid to park and stay in my motorhome in an unsecured parking lot at a hotel that is downtown.

Hey Norm,
Here is some info. for next year if you decide to go... The hotel's parking garage seemed to have limited vertical height clearances...maybe for a big SUV only. The garage is not very secure. You go through a pay booth (automated only). Folks from the streets can easily walk through the garage...at any time. I did not seem any CCTV cameras throughout the garage, either. The parking lot directly across the street is well-lit at night and is on a busy street during the day. You would probably be okay there. This seemed to be a nice part of downtown. Take your lugers into the show for display during the day and sleep with a loaded luger at night...if you need to feel a bit more safe. Most of the NAPCA folks left all of their pistol displays in the convention hall overnight. NAPCA had hired a bonded security co. to stay in the hall all night after the doors were closed. No one seemed worried about leaving everything on the tables. Even the smallest tools and accessories were left. This included the very pricey collections of the three Navy Cabal guys...(i.e. the Navy 3-Amigos... ) Regards, Pete... |

Personally I would drive out to Colorado, then Norm could fly to Ohio and attend,

Ed,
hopefully new year I will swing past Colorado. That is if some forest fire does not burn the whole state down. I wanted to go this year but life got in the way. I passed on the NAPCA show. I really wanted to meet Tom Armstrong as well as some others and that made me feel bad about not attending. But I just did not feel comfortable with the parking of the motor home situation.
