Portland, OR Gun Show Report-December
The rumoured "enhanced Luger content" didn't make an appearance.
1936 S/42, very nice, with holster, $1.7k 1916/1929 DWM Police, sear safety, mag safety clipped, also very nice, also with holster, also $1.7k. This gun had a circle-S stamped on the left receiver, and was being sold as a Simson Police rework. The holster was very interesting, converted from an Artillery holster. But it wasn't a cut-and-plug job, the back was cut to the proper 4" barrel profile and the bottom of the front was completely and skillfully re-formed. The stitching marks from the (removed) cleaning rod pouch curved gracefully down into the re-formed aarea. It was unit marked on the back, S.Mg.767 which I understand to be Schutzpolezei Magdeburg, weapon #767. The usual very gorgeous 1900 Commercial for a very gorgeous $3,5k. byf 42 "Black Widow" with holster, $1,125. Grip straps worn clean, side panel turning brown. Riteous grips, I think. 1918 DWM, OK shape, $800. .30 cal. Alphabet Commercial, $700. There was one walk-in that I know of, a 1940 Banner Police. Thats the good part. The less good part is that it was nickeled, and it came in in parts (no breechblock), swimming in motor oil in a tupperware container. It was somebody's project gun from several years previous. That was it for Lugers. |

<img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" /> Hi Dwight
It sounds like it was not a very good show for lugers. <img border="0" alt="[crying]" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" /> Russ

It was a lousey show for Lugers!
However I did spend some money. I got an Astra 400 mag and an Astra A-90 mag for my .45ACP. Most of my money went to a Mauser broomhandle shoulder stock/holster rig. It is a fairly nice looking 1918 with a cleaning rod. To my unskilled eye, it looks authentic. There is wear in the spots that I would expect to see some and not in the areas that it would be unappropriate to see wear. However, I had to pass on a broomhandle in 9mm export but if anyone is interested, I have the persons card for contact information. |
