Broken pieces of cinder block work well. They "smoke' when hit, but there are pieces left over.
If you can't get bowling pins, try chunks of firewood. They stand up nicely and are easy to come by. For guys who have real winters or a chest freezer, blocks of ice makes great targets. Dramatic hits and the debris melts. |

Metal plate articulated with an hinge to a metal support base make great targets falling down when hit and you can reset them. ask a fellow shooter practicing IPCS or fun shooting how it's done or visit IPSC / USPSA official site , you will find drawings and dimensions. they can be used a lifetime. only thing to ( not ) do : using 22 LR , return to shooter or rifle rounds , perforate them.
