Post Dark brown Repro

I recently purchased a brown repro holster and it is way too dark for my taste. What can I do to lighten the stain?

Wes, I doubt if there is anything you can do...I have had success with carburetor cleaner in getting off old stains. It stinks while you are doing it but from what I have been able to see it does no permanent damage and the smell goes away.It really does remove stain. Just spray and wipe. Hard to tell if it will lighten the holster though. Jerry Burney

Here is my holster:

Would trade it for something like this:

Both of those are CMR holsters, I owned a dark brown one like that, ANTIQUE BROWN, too dark for me, but Marvin likes them. I own the other one in the picture and a police holster in the same color.

Thor,

I searched the Old Forum threads and found your post of your holster. They are very nice looking holsters. Mine (top picture, which came from Robert Hill Military) is more like the holster that is pictured in my earlier post "WWI (Great War) bringback".

Wes, the dark brown one looks just like the Antique brown one sold by CMR. CMR holsters I find very nice. They come in black, antique brown and sometimes my favorite red russet. I have two of the red russets. One a standard buckle and one a police type closure. Good luck on your search. There seem to be plenty of black repos out there. But I have not seen a quality light brown/tan one yet. The red russet is the closest color so far.

Thor,

Your and my preferences are the same in holsters. Thanks for the info. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

I have been eye-balling that holster in the old Luger forum.
