Post More Advice Needed on Navy...

Was at a gunshow today and think I found a good shape 1914 DMW Navy Luger FS for $1500.00. Chamber dated 1916 or 1917 (not 100% sure which). Not sure about proofs - know need to check before buying. Looks reblued and trigger not matching. Have done some research and looks like even a shooter grade Navy in poor shape is worth at least $1500. Would this be a good buy??

Malcome, If you want a Navy shooter it isn't too bad. I have a collector 1917 which I refuse to shoot because it is all matching and in great shape. I bought one this Summer, matching bottom with a matching top, neither to each other. Paid $1300 but I always wanted to have a Navy shooter and it shoots sweet! Had Ted Green straw the parts and it looks beautiful. A lot of money for a shooter but that's pretty much what they cost.

If it were in collectable condition it would make a big difference about the date. 1916 being the more desirable. In shooter condition I would not pay a premium for 1916.

A lot of considerations about the good buy, have a good bore? Grips solid? Does it cycle a round? Pretty much the used gun questions.....Jerry Burney

Thanks for the advice. Went back to make the offer...wouldn't you know it, guy had packed up his table. A Luger dealer I did buy a 1914 Erfurt Artillery from on Saturday said the guy had had it at the show before and likely would be back with it. Thought it was a bit pricey at $1500 and thinks can find one that would be better, but he did confirm that it is real Navy and not a fake.
