Post where do I go to learn more?

This site is great, but I can't find answers to what are probably very basic questions...

I have one marked "42" I know that's a Mauser. It has a 1940 date code and it came with Army capture papers so that one is no great mystery...

2 others are 30cal and are "DWM". One with a very low SN and marked GERMANY. Serial number on frame only, with lug on butt.

Another with only a frame serial number in the 82000 range and the last 2 digits of the SN on the back of the toggle... no other serial numbers, with lug on butt.

Were DWM guns all commercial? Any place that lists SN ranges? Which books would you recommend?

Hi Vic..!!

The best place to go from here is to buy books. I can recommend quite a few. For what you are describing - I would suggest Mr. Still 3 Volumes (Imperial Lugers, Weimar Era and Third Reich Lugers). They are very very good, and heavily illustrated. As well - Lugers at Random (Charles Kenyon), The Luger Pistol (Datig)...

Hmm - I can keep going..?? How much money of yours can I spend??!!

Seriously - books are an excellent source of information, and I think you'll refer to them often - I know I do.....

Best to you!

Vic, buying books will never be a bad thing.

Do a search on this forum and pick words you are interested in;

put in a word or even assorted words and you can read about other questions on guns like yours. Also, copious pictures can make many more comments on your treasures,

And welcome to the forum!
