luger indentification

I recently recived a 1912 P-08 Luger by DWM. I would like to know as much as i can about this gun heres some pics of the symbols and what the gun looks like

Looks like you have a nice Imperial Era Luger, maker is DWM, made in 1912. Prior to 1913, they did not have a stock lug, which is on the rear of the grip, yours is smooth; so just a little something different about your gun Phil.

Hello Phil,

Yours is a military gun, as the military proofs marks on the right side of the receiver demonstrate.

If Commercial, a DWM luger would typically have BUG proofs and a bit later, Crown/Nitro proofs...

Do you have the magazine for your nice 1912 luger ?

Boys, am I missing something, or is there something strange about the "Gesichert" marking...lower case.

Hi George, I believe the markings, in red and yellow, were added to the photo, just for clarification!!

That one kind of threw me too George, but Frank is on the right track. I enlarged the photo, and under the added yellow text, the GESICHERT stamping is all caps.

That is a really nice 1912 DWM. Congratulations Phil.

i have 2 clips that dont match the gun and a holster, but possibly what could it be worth

Depends on how original it is, looks in very nice shape, but sometimes it is hard to tell if it has been refinished.

You do seem to have an aptitude for brevity, and more information to us is always helpful. I am sure you like us giving you information and it is a bit helpful to get the same in return.

On value, it usually is something like this, condition, condition, condition.

Lets say for instance that it has a large scratch or bad pitting on the reverse, well that drops the collector value a lot. So start off at $400-$500 for a "shooter" value and go up, if it was all original, no hold open etc., in really excellent shape, maybe $1,200 - $1,500?

A holster in good shape $85-$150 depending on year and condition.

Extra magazine is worth $50 - $125

All depends on how nice it is, most guns from WW1
go from $750 - $1,000, but who knows?

I like to go to Ralph Shattucks and Simpson's websites and check prices of comparable values, then deduct 20 %, at least that is one way I check values.
