Seller seems like they know what they are doing, good description and then to say this?

</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">WW II (BYF/42) era Nickel Plated (original?) </font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">Rather odd? Then they have 7 positives, and then a negative and a neutral, the replies would keep me from dealing with them...

Judging by the extreme reflectivity, the cold/neutral appearance without any "lustre", and the lack of any surface flaws, I would say that this gun has been chrome plated rather than nickeled.

"Lean harder on the buffing wheel, Charlie, you ain't got all them corners rounded yet!"

Or just an early version of "meltdown"?

And then plated? The poor thing.

Note the Blue Green matte finished areas.
That is certainly a "good ?" Chrome Job!
Nickel will not appear that color.

steamed tac,
Two-toned wingtips remain the height of good taste but only among a select group of people; I refer to those who derive their living from the earnings or others who commit immoral acts for remuneration and, of course, New Orleans political ward healers, not that there is much difference in the two.

Gentlemen!

{tongue in cheek mode on!]
As this gun falls into the 'byf' 42 category but differs so drastically in finish from the originals... this must be one of those very elusive "white widow" Lugers that Ed Tinker and Hugh Clark are always looking for! <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" />

I think I will go back and check the bidders list and see just who (possibly among us!) is prepared to pay so dearly for such a pristine example of a white widow Luger... As the title says... Lugers so bright you gotta wear

{tongue in cheek mode off!]

AH HA! Just as I suspected... this is a "Hidden" type auction to hide the identity of the bidders!

hi Frank! I knew this type of Luger wasn't on your list of desirables... Mine either .. but Ed and Hugh seem to have an addiction for them!

The absolutely Spectacular finish on this particular one has the same appearance that I remember seeing on a late uncle's Cadillac sedan deville bumper back in 1958...

Unhappy

My Apologies To All;
I had no intention of "Pushing Plated Lugers" !!!!
I was merely trying to elucidate the difference to the un-initiated in order to aid them in not being fooled as some were.

Will You Please Forgive Me for such a "Grevious Error"

This Chrome Job looks like something from the Barnum & Bailey world.

Wink

The steamed Mr. Kitchens is most correct---a true White Widow would be proudly graced with bright pearlys.

Could this possibly be a Presentation Piece for a senior Gestapo/SS officer and liberated by a GI?

It is obviuosly an officer's model. After all, a couple of gun shows back a dealer assured me that his mis-matched nickle plated job was an "officer's model". What better authority could you ask for?
