This gun may very well be original. He states </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva"> NOT A REBUILD,A VET BRING BACK </font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">. it is possible that someone replaced the original grips with shooter East Germans and then either lost or sold the old ones prior to the seller acquiring it? Grips do not make the gun.

Doug has a point. Last year a fellow came up to my table at the Tulsa show with a byf42 in a Lahti holster with two bakelite mags. It had bullseye grips.
I told him it was East German and I had no interest. He whined a lot about it being a family gun. I looked at it closely. Turns out to be a 98% byf that someone put "new" grips on. I bought it at a fair price and forwarded it to a new home. I was not the first to be offered this gun. It pays to look carefully and ask alot of questions. Most often it doesn't pay off but sometimes... |

Hey Guys, I did'nt say it was'nt, but it sure does'nt give that appearance. Looks like any run of the mill VOPO to me. And he does'nt lend anymore info. to the contrary.

From what I believe (may not be right), I thought some VOPOs were not dipped and thus appear as original? Of course they should be import stamped? </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">FRONT GRIP STRAP MISSING MOST OF ORIGIONAL FINISH.</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">Maybe that is why the front strap is so bare?

Another option is Norway.
Those P08s saw almost 50 years of service AFTER WW2 and slipped in through Canada. This one certainly looks well-used. |
