I don't imagine that this would take much modification other than replacement or relining of the barrel and probably lightening of the mainspring to deal with the lower pressures of this blowback design cartridge...
I'll stick with 9mm Parabellum full charge loads in my Lugers...

This may be a practical proposition in those parts of the world where civilians are prohibited from possessing anything in 9 mm Parabellum. How ever there is a cartridge prevalent at least in Italy called (If my memory hasn't failed again.) the 9 X 21 which is factory loaded and is simply a 9 mm Parabellem with the case 3 mm longer and loaded to the same performance level and same over all length as the 9 mm Parabellum. Its sole purpose in life is as a dodge around the 9 mm Parabellum prohibition.
As an interesting aside, the people at Ruger tell me that Europe was the main market for the P89 chambered in 7.65 Parabellum. The 9 mm prohibition keeps the 7.65 more popular than it is here. unspellable |
