Is this real? P08 BW
Hello,
I just saw this sale end on Gunbroker and have not seen a Luger with #2 this low before. He sold Two(2) lugers today for about the same price and the 1917 DWM looked pretty good. Any idea if it was real? http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/Vie...?Item=26552769 Thanks Michael

Mike, the Luger is real! It is a mismatched shooter and sold for a decent price. I'm not sure if the grips are original German Black Bakelite or reproductions.
Don't forget that Lugers were numbered in lots of 10,000 in a block, so many Number "2" Lugers did exist, as did many "1" Lugers. To expand, the first WWII Type Mauser Luger was number 1, then 2, and so on, in 1934. When they got to 9999, the next number was 1a, then 2a, and so on. Then 9999a to 1b, 2b, etc. So you can see there were many No. 2 Lugers between 1934 and 1942, since they manufactured over 100,000 Lugers a year between 1936 and 1942, inclusive! |

Actually, it was at least advertised as an all matching Luger. I would have snatched it up, but cash is tight with the Xmas season and I have higher Luger buying priorities. I think it was a steal at the sale price though!

Mike, you are correct, it was avertised as matching. I misread the part about the magazine not matching. In that instance, I would agree if it is all matching, the price was terrific, even for an import marked Luger!!!
