P08 "42"
A friend has recently acquired a P08.
It's a Mauser "42", serial 4359c; matching except sideplate (no serial there), matching mag. (+). No WaA's on the r/h side of the frame. Is this gun authentic or rather reworked and what would be the year/month of manufacture, 1940 ? Thanks for any input, Juergen |

Juergen, my guess is that it has been reworked. Without Waffenamt Marks of any kind, it would not have been available for military use!!
If the frame is marked 4359c and the toggle code is "42" and the chamber date is 1940, then that pistol was completed in about March 1940. Hope this helps! |

Thanks Frank,
my 1st guess was "rework", too, mostly because of the missing WaA's and the appearance of the barrel - looked shinier than the frame. Now that you mention it, there is NO date on the chamber, only "42" on the toggle. The gun has quite some deep scars but is a very good shooter. Juergen |
