Default 1943 Inglis BOYS Rifle in .50 BMG

After reading the "How and Why Guns Explode" thread, I thought I would share more about my BOYS AT Rifle.

Canadian INGLIS BOYS Mk1 Rifle, later version with flat baffle muzzle break and bipod; US Govt. stamped; converted from caliber .55 BOYS to .50 BMG post war.

As the United States never produced an Anti-Tank Rifle of their own during WWII, the US instead purchased BOYS Anti-Tank Rifles from INGLIS in Canada and deployed them in the Pacific Theater. The famous US Marine Raiders were one of the units outfitted with BOYS AT Rifles and even managed to take out a Japanese sea plane on take off with a BOYS rifle. The BOYS worked against the lightly armored Japanese tanks and vehicles. The USMC Raiders liked them enough to hump them around the jungle for their raids.

I modified a WWII Bren Gun tripod to use with the BOYS rifle (It does not fit on there naturally) and made a transit chest so I could haul it to the desert. It is a blast to shoot! Lots of these were customized for shooters, as back in the day before everyone started making .50 cal. rifles, BOYS were pretty much it. This one has been maintained in its original configuration, less its original .55 caliber. I love my Lugers, but this thing is fun to shoot, collectible and historical.

Enjoy, Mark
