Post Number stamps

I recently purchased a 1914 DWM luger, serial # is 880 a. All parts match except one which is marked with an 83. Is it possible this has been reworked or is there a special marking for reworked pieces. Either way this is in extremely nice condition, good bore, finish etc. And best of all it's mine ! This is my second and I have to say I'm hooked. Beutiful craftsmanship in these guns.

Frankp -

Congratulations on your second Luger. It is addictive.

Would love to see pictures. Which part is marked "83" ? ? ?

The trigger bar is the one stamped with the number 83. I also noticed the inside of the left grip is stamped with an F. I'll put some pics up as soon as I figure out how.

Frank, I have a #80 Mauser trigger bar (serial # in different location than on a DWM) but no DWM. TH

I don't know if I should try to change it to match, seems it would be misleading, but would be nice. The magazine that came with it looks to be nickel with a wood base. Has 122 stamped on the bottom. I know it's not exactly " collectable " but it is what I can afford for now. Thanks, the people in this forum are great group of people.
