New book about German military codes of manufacturers
I hope it's not a prohibited advertisement to present an own book, but since last week my book "Deutsche Fertigungskennzeichen bis 1945" is finished. Maybe someone is interested in German markings of WW2.
It has more than 500 pages, is sorted in two ways (after codes and after company-names), contains all military code systems (abbreviations, number-codes, letter-codes, LDO-numbers for medals & insignias and the RZM-numbers for NSDAP- & SS-equipment). The text-part is written in German and English language . Well, it's my hobby and I do not earn money for living with my book. It took me seven years to check every single code and location on historic landmaps. I have added the todays names of the towns, so that everyone can find the locations on modern landmaps. So I'm really happy now . There is no commercial distribution to dealers outside Germany, so if someone might be interested, I can only send books from me. The price is 41,- EUR (= 60,- USD) inclusive airmail-postage (sorry for the high postage). In Europe it's only 35,- EUR incl. postage and in Germany 32,- EUR incl. postage. Michael,
A very great welcome to the Forum! Your book looks like an excellent addition to the standard Luger library. It is not clear from your presentation, do you include designations of all the Heers Zeugamt depots? --Dwight |

Michael, no it is not against rules. Welcome to the forum, looks like a great book!
I think there will be interest in your book. Do you take paypal, or do we need to obtain an international money order for you? Ed

Hello Dwight,
I have found the forum some days ago and it's interesting to read through all the postings. Nice Lugers here Too bad that I can't collect them, because my license is for rifles only. Well, I have only included the code-markings (numbers and letters) of manufacturers and two tables with the codes for the year of production. The only Zeug¤mter that are included are the following, because they have had an official code: 136 Heeres-Zeugamt Kassel 137 Heeres-Zeugamt K¶nigsberg 977 Kraftfahr- und Radfahr-Zeugamt "Kurza" Wien czo Heeres-Zeugamt K¶nigsberg jlj Heeres-Zeugamt Ingolstadt Please see attached another picture. I have startet doing that work just for my own many years ago ... stupid work to check and correct 9200 lines of codes and addresses But I'm happy about the result, because I have never thought that I could find a publisher. 500 pages is a thick pack of paper. With best wishes Michael |

And a scan of a page. The abbreviations in the round brackets "(...)" indicate the German state and in the square brackets "[..]" they indiacte the foreign country, so one can find the places on modern landmaps to see where the company was located.

I'm registered again at Paypal since last week with my other email-address: " r_wilco@web.de ". I have used their service some time ago, but they have kicked my account together with my ebay-account for selling "nazi-propaganda". But all I sold was my book about German rifle grenades and launcher of WW1+2. Oh I hate Paypal, but it's the only way to transfer money without risk and high fees. And as long as I do not put my books on ebay, they will not kick me again ;-) With best wishes Michael |

Hello everybody,
I just want to inform you that my book about the secret German manufacturer codes is sold out now. But I was able to obtain a few books again. Price is 70 USD inclusive shipping by airmail. But that's all. No idea if there will ever be a reprint in the future. I have attached a file with corrections and supplements for all owners of my book. The list contains information that I got after the book was finished. Viele Grüße With best wishes Michael Heidler |

Did you post over at Jan Still's forum too??? It has been my observation that although there is some overlap, Still's membership is more 'hard core' collectors than this forum...

GGG-Please consider making it an e-book if you are unable to print more hard copy.

Oh yes, now I'm so rich that I have never go to work again
Well, there is no money to earn with special interest books like this. But it's my hobby and it makes fun. Nevertheless in the meantime I have written another book. It's about German rifle grenades and launchers from the early days till 1945, including foreign copies and a lot of experimental weapons. But it's a bit off-topic for a Luger-forum I will also post my supplements-list on Jan's forum. @ithacaartist: I'm sorry, but an ebook would be a disaster. Today it's not possible to copy-protect a CD or DVD and so an ebook will finish all attempts to win round the publisher to make a reprint one day in the future. That's the problem ... Just to make certain these limitations are real, try contacting Gerard Henrotin, another gun book author. Although I'm sure someone could eventually hack his system of protection, it seems fairly secure in its ability to keep his work safe from unauthorized copying. The work is not on disk, rather passworded downloads, and the code for its pages has disabled "copy" function. He's a member of both Luger forums, and has many e-books available about all sorts of other firearms as well.

Most if not all of my 'hobby' work is a total loss as well; I never recoup my investment...but it is challenging and interesting (to me) and therefore worthy of my time... It also allows me to extend my talents/abilities in a way that my 'real' job does not...

As time, our enemy, marches relentlessly onward more and more about our past will be lost forever.
The only savior from extinction is recording the past in orderly, thorough documentation by dedicated individuals. Your book seems to be an intensive labor of love for knowlege that time might otherwise erase forever. Books on everything Luger and WWI and WWII are my university ... I view each new book as a class at the University of Luger that I study in order to become a doctorate of Luger. I have not taken your class yet professor GGG but I think it will one day be an essential part of my library. Knowledge Is Power. |
