Post 1916 DMW with unusual marking

Hello, just purchased this 1916 DWM 08, in good condition, except that the date seems to have been hand engraved. Anyone ever saw this kind of markings, or has any clue on its origin?
THanks for the help.
I'll try to post pics, but don't know how to do here...

The pistol is totally matching, and has been reblued to my opinion.

Can you retake the top photo again please, it is too out of focus to provide an opinion on the date...

Better to be a few inches further away and in sharp focus than to be too close.

BTW, I agree that his gun has been re-blued.

thanks...

The right-side view shows considerable pitting under the reblue. The lack of a military acceptance "eagle" on the receiver indicates that it's a commercial pistol and you're probably correct that the chamber date is engraved and not stamped as it should be.
