War Time 06/29 Swiss Bern

Today I offer a nice Swiss Military WWII Bern 06/29 Luger. This one is all matching, 7.65 mm, 98% blue original finish, slight blue fading on toggle knobs, excellent grips, excellent bore, with original correct Swiss magazine and 2 extra Swiss mags, military sequence serial number, P stamp on left receiver for private purchase/release, born March 1940 as per front frame well stamping. A nice clean correct second war Swiss Military Luger. Enjoy. Mark

I had not paid attention to this Swiss feature before now, but I just noticed how the Swiss put the front sight witness stamp on the front of the front sight and base instead of the top. (See pic # 17). It seems that these 06/29 Swiss Lugers have not appreciated in value as much as other Lugers. At least based upon what I paid in the late 1980's and what I see them going for today. I guess their plainness and simpler manufacturing features keep them from being as desirable. Or could it be larger numbers of 06/29 Swiss Lugers that survived? Your thoughts?

Hi.

The Swiss never went to war with them. Switzerland remained neutral so no great war stories or bring back captures.

Since they were well taken care of and not lost or destroyed, all of them made it to the market in above average to excellent condition.

So they are not rare and have no notoriety. That affects the price.

Prices in Europe went up for a short while when they were free to own without a permit in Belgium due to an oversight in their gun laws. But that loophole has been fixed and prices of Swiss luger have gone down quite a bit. They are struggling to bring more than 1000 euros over here. I have a nice 1940s model 29 for sale. Best offer I got to date was 900...

Well said VLIM. Thanks for your input. Looks like they go for more over here in the US. I guess 1,000 Euros is about $1,185 US Dollars. Simpson Ltd is asking about $2,000 to $2,250 for 1929's like this. Mark

Exactly 1102 guns later! Perhaps made that same month?

Rshaw, you can find out what month and year yours was made. Just disassemble, removing the barrel/cannon assembly and look down into the front frame well. It should be stamped with the month and year of manufacture! A nice feature the Swiss included on these. Regards, Mark
