I'll give Ted a hand until he gets back here...

It's the acronym for what he calls a "Total Doll Job." Strawing the extractor and whiting the markings surely isn't exactly factory original, but it certainly makes for a purdy Luger!

I was figuring something like "Total Detail Job" - just couldn't quite get the "D"

For the right price, I am sure Ted would even do a TDJ on a Nambu… but the cost of removing that many tool marks might be prohibitive!

John,

Early models are finished to very high "European" standards, so massive amounts of tool marks will not be present.

Sieger, obviously you didn't pay any attention to the emoticon at the end of my posting.... it was meant to be sarcasm intended for Zorba, as my distaste for Nambu pistols is well known...

IMHO they look like they were manufactured from scratch out of scrap metal by convicts with files... at least when compared to Lugers!

John,

I'm afraid we totally disagree on Nambus; but, that's ok, as everyone is allowed their own opinion.

John,
have you ever owned a Nambu?
I have and still have a few; and have not seen one such as you describe, unless it was a 20.6 date that shipped out near the last day of production.

Early Nambus are as nicely put together as any pistol, later ones look a little more like Erfurt 1917s or 18s- but without the "Rc" markings.

12.9 was produced in Sept. of '37, 14.1 is Jan. 1939, and 20.6 is June of 1945- about as late as routine production continued.

I'd like to see some close-ups of the after Luger, if you don't mind Ted. Polished out or filled?
