Artillery rear sights--missing
On this forum would anyone give an estimate of what a ballpark value for a matching, nice but certainly not perfect 1917 DWM Artillery without the rear sight would be?
Maybe 70% blue, reported as a good bore, matching visible numbers, "million dollar' left grip chip, a few apparent scratches , pretty worn grips, unground stock attachment. I know it's scanty info but thought I'd take a chance as one in the state has come on the market at $1500. |

You can likely get a complete one for that; the one you describe will always be "mismatched" as the rear sight is numbered.
A reproduction rear sight will cost you about $250.

An original complete artillery rear sight could well cost you a hundred more...

Don and Richard, right on with your prices, I was also looking for an Artillery rear sight awhile back and the best price I could find for a nice (new) repro was $250., finally settled for a new original for $350.

Where are you guys seeing artillery Lugers selling for 1500 or around there?
If anyone can post or send me a link I would appreciate that! I have been looking for a while now and have not see anything close to "good condition" sell for less than 2000. I would be happy to spend 1300 or a little more on a mixed number example based off the auctions I've seen. To the OP: you could always ask the owner if he will take off the cost of a replacement sight. |

Thanks. Will consider that.
Also, where are the original sights to be found? I haven't seen any advertised. |

There is a sight with barrel for sale for $450, you might do well to buy it, keep the sight, and sell the barrel for $100 or maybe a little more! At least that is what I would do.

Thank you. I believe the seller, who is 160-180 miles away, is moving it to gunbroker where everyone can assess it. And potentially have it.

Thank you. I've decided that the reroofing project is more pressing right now. But, if I were to proceed with the purchase I'd buy the barrel and sight you have advertised!
