Default Another DWM Commercial, 9 mm

All,

Just picked up another DWM commercial, in 9 mm. Reblue, mismatched side plate, but excellent bore so a good shooter. Interesting markings.

Some of the stuff under the barrel almost looks like partial British proofhouse marks, and the suffix on the front of the grip frame appears to be over-stamped. Interesting gun.

Sometime, within the last few months, someone posted pics of a Luger that had very similar marks on the underside of the barrel. IIRC (and I may not!) that Luger was recognizably a Weimar era rework. Another Luger with that struck through crown was also pictured here, or on Jan Still’s forum, circa November of last year.

To misquote the Bard, “There are more off-the-wall things in Lugers than are dreamt of in our philosophy.”

Certainly more than dreamt in my philosophy!

The barrel markings look Portuguese to me.

Kyrie my old friend. It appears that you may have succumbed to Luger addiction for the SECOND time

The crown overstamping of the suffix on the frame front I have seen from time to time on military lugers reissued as commercials during the 1920's. I also saw it on a 1920 commercial with a Swiss cross in sunburst. The barrel markings are anybody's guess as the barrel evidently is a replacement.

Indeed. I thought I'd quit Lugers, but it appears Lugers have not quit me :-)

Warmly,

Kyrie
