Bill, the cant of the 29 seems funny to me, but same on the take down - could just be how it laid on a shelf or something for many years?

Don't Mausers have the number higher on the inside of the sideplate?

Bill - NICE GUN!

I can't help you on the value, but in my experience, the sideplates are often different in color because they may have been made from a different steel, or at least made to a different hardness. Your sideplate does look original to the pistol to me.

The mags also look original to the pistol and not force matched IMHO.

Ed, what you said about the numbers on the inside of the sideplate is generally true, but I have seen exceptions over the years...

A nice gun overall. Congrats Bill!

Not sure what you are talking about. Help. There is no number on the inside of the sideplate. Bill

Bill,

Which is correct. G-dates did not have numbers on the inside of the sideplate.

Default sideplate

Hi Bill, hey! I had a couple of K dates that did the very same thing? The blue leached out somewhere down the line... Actually, I'm suspicious of a K date or G date that has a 100% blue side plate 80+ years later?...... best to all, til....lat'r.....GT....

Here is a somewhat similar sold item... I'm sure your non police issue gun is worth far more.

G date pistols are all over the place in "value", condition is not so good as is obvious; and two matching mags are probably the most debated value adding objects around!

Value is just impossible to say, whatever makes the buyer and seller happy.

And for Miles, the G date police guns are quite scarce, and bring more than the army version, at least in my observation from looking for Police used G dates.

ok, thanks - it is something I have to look up

sorry about that Bill - it is in the FAQ - what is marked and what isn't
---

I to have seen them like this - but the barrel looked good, but have had several just like this.

I'd say its easily worth $3200 and likely plus - if a dealer were selling, I would imagine it being $3500-$3800
