Default Help with identifying location of parts

New to lugers; only have one so far. A manual I have says that when you slide the barreled action onto the frame to push down on the sear to be sure the pistol is in firing condition. So, where's the sear? What does it look like?
I need a really good schematic showing parts to a luger so I can ID them. I tried to download 'Luger Mechanicals by Gerard Henrotin' but my museum laptop wouldn't do it. Also when asking questions on this fine forum, I do not know the correct part name. I know of good luger books out there, but at $300-400 per book is beyond me.
Thanks

Tom,
I just typed in "luger pistol diagram" in my search bar, hundreds of refrences come up!
Sometimes you just have to try a little harder for yourself, JMHO.

Click on the link above and look and read.

Do a search on "Luger Parts Diagram". There will be some pictures of what you are looking for or you can go to almost any one of the parts suppliers listed from that search and find a parts schematic on their individual pages.

They may use slightly different names. For instance, what your manual is calling the "Sear" is probably what is identified as the "trigger bar". The true sear is just a projection on the back of the trigger bar and not shown in these pictures, but an understanding of what the sear does would allow you to quickly identify the trigger bar as the sear from your manual.

You can also do a search on "gun sear" or just "sear" for a better understanding of what the sear is and does.

Hope this helps.

Doug

I posted the parts diagrams of both 1900 [Old Model] and P08 here some time back and suggested they be included in the FAQ...

I never checked, but I'd bet that Marc put them in the refurbished FAQ...

Why would we need to add to the FAQ, they are posted on the front of the forum!
