Of course it is possible; but I would think Highly unlikely-
What "defect" would cause an entire pistol to be condemed?

Just defies logic to me.

Assembly of first class, inspected parts could fail only a targeting test, maybe? If so the barrel would be changed and re-numbered/re-tested-
or what am I missing?

Thanks for all the feedback guys... I think for me, which is probably something I'll never find out, is the side plate mismatched due to the reject stamp somehow and is the gun as it was found?... Or did it and the takedown get mixed up with a commercial luger post war in a GI's basement. Price is just a couple ticks over $1000. Gun is very nice (does have one small chip in the grip).. I'm guessing it would be safe to shoot? I would think what the Germans would reject on a P08 in 1938 would be pretty nitpicky stuff?
