I found those pictures on the Net and I posted in a 1911 Forum, the day after the actual owner wrote more interesting details about that 1911a1.
And it has been observed that even though it was practically new at the time of the battle, looks as if somebody has replaced the hammer with a later flat-sided one, unless it has been replaced recently in an attempt to make it shootable again.
However, as I often repeat I wouldn't shoot a collectible, but at least out of respect I would NEVER shoot that pistol which surely witnessed the sacrifice of people that made Europe a better place to live.
