Just out of curiosity I would like to know how you would get around the prohibition of ammo sales/shipping to our state...
And since USPS won't ship ammunition, and UPS tacks on an extra $40 fee to their existing 'hazardous cargo' fee, on top of the actual shipping cost, what do these sellers actually charge for shipping??? Presumably other states have more lenient laws regarding ammunition sales (or no prohibition at all)... Just wondering...If anyone does order from an interstate seller, please describe your experience...

Rich,
I picked up the Samco .30 Luger ammo last night, 10 boxes of 25, the rounds had red "sealer". The FFL dealer closest and handiest to me charged ten bucks! I will use another dealer for this, who does it gratis--at least, he said, until he has to do background checks. There's a rider on the current rent control legislation to change this part of the SAFE Act, which really is the stupidest, most un-feasible part. The shipping for it, as I mentioned in the other thread, was around twenty bucks. Somehow, they avoided an extra HAZMAT fee. Packed in a way bigger box than necessary... UPS, I think, but will check back with dealer about that.

Those are some very "workable" prices for new 30 Luger ammo. I am glad to see the prices coming down to more reasonable/normal levels. At least 3 places selling it at those prices. If I was going to order some, I would pick the dealer the closest to me to cut down on postage.
As I mentioned elsewhere, I have never paid a hazmat fee for loaded ammo that was shipped....only on primers and powder. I received the 30 Luger from Samco, and it is sealed at primer and bullet, so it should be good to go. I have not taken any to the range just yet. Anyone needing 30 luger ammo should step up and get some, as one never knows when the next "panic" will hit. |
