Serial number marks on P08's
Hello,
I read through the FAQ in the New Collectors Forum section and I have a question about the answer to #20. I copied part of the answer here: 20) What parts must be numbered on a Luger? The following parts should have serial numbers on them: Frame, full serial number with suffix Under barrel, full serial number with or without suffix Left side of the receiver, full serial number without suffix. My question is, where on the frame is the serial number with suffix? I have been looking at 2 different guns (one with 1935 date and one with 1938 date) and I only see the under barrel and receiver serial number marks. In the pics I have seen, I don't see an SN mark on the frame. Could someone post a picture of where on the frame this is marked? Or is there not a frame SN mark for these dates of guns? Thanks, Brian |

Brian, welcome to the forum
No 1935 dated lugers, G date yes, but not 1935 SN is on the front of the frame, it has a suffix, if that year had a suffix and was the 2nd batch of 10,000 made. SN on military are numbered on front of frame and also on the left. Everything depends on year, type (army, police, navy or commercial) etc, etc

Here is a 1938 S/42, serial number 2538m. Suffix on both frame and magazine.
