To many on this forum it would be a shooter, but to lots of enthusiasts it is a very desirable piece. I have several restored guns and they hold nearly the same esteem as the originals. I'd like to see a price tag closer to $1500, but to answer your question it is worth exactly what someone, anyone with money, is willing to pay.
Misterluger does have a good website where you could probably see more cool stuff.

Hi,

For a refinished byf 41, with a non mint bore, I'd pay $600 to $800 at max.

Hi,

Actually, I would pass on this piece altogether.

I'd rather have an originally finished piece with a mint bore. With that, you will have something that is sure to appreciate.

In 1993, I bought a byf 41 Black Widow, all matched, in near mint condition, for $385.00, from FGS, Inc. It is now worth well over $2,000.

If money is an object, simply save until you have enough to buy a quality piece.

Just my 2 cents.

I already have a collector piece, now I would like a shooter black widow to accompany it. That way I have an all black, and a strawed w wood grips.

Hi,

If you really want a shooter to shoot, you might just consider one of the 1970s Interarms Mauser Parabellums, as they are more shooter friendly to modern ammo and are still quite a bargan in mint condition.

Well, he raised the price $850 out of the blue to $2750 for the same gun he didn't sell for $1950.

I don't get it.

seems overpriced ...
maybe to the first time buyer with famished black widow syndrome enthusiast - probably holster 250 , tool 90, mag 1 150 , mag 2 and gun 1300 all in $
bore not exc/mint very limiting factor

actually the battle worn byf black widows seem to sell on auctions at about 1000

much better buy is the mauser luger currently in the WTS here on forum

happy hunting

Misterluger is a funny guy. He wouldn't even talk to me when I tried to ask him what might be wrong with a pistol he was selling too cheap (I thought it might be reblued).

last one battle weary I saw was one that sold at about $1000 was on gunbroker, was to a first time luger buyer - I had no association with the auction

it was like 50% finish worn grips rough bore and seemed to be a case of really been there - but was mostly matched numbers

on gunbroker or auction arms you should find examples of actual sales using the completed selection in the advanced search

also you can look for sold tags on the Simpson or Legacy websites

happy hunting !

Mismatch at 50%, poor bore for a $1000 was a good deal for the seller.

Before they called them Black Widows, they were the least desirable of all Lugers.
I remember the old guys at shows laughing about them.
Unit marked WW 1 pieces were scorned as well.
Late 50s early 60s period.
