New Luger Owner
I recently purchased this Luger at the Indianapolis 1500 Gun Show. While I realize the numbers don't match, I am still very happy to own one. The next day I took her out and ran 100 rounds through her. She handled great for her age... I think it is a 1939 Mauser Made, but ......thoughts? Looking to learn as much as I can..

Welcome to the forum!!
Your gun is a mismatched example with a WW2 Mauser made upper, (1939 42 code) and a WW1 Erfurt Arsenal lower frame. If you didn't pay too much, you have a nice, obviously reliable shooter. One thing I would recommend. Your pistol came with a desirable, WW1 wood based magazine, which looks like it is in pretty good shape. It is an early mag for its year as it has no suffix and is the spare mag from an original rig, as it has the spare mag "+" simbol. Don't use this mag anymore, as the wood bases tend to crack with age. You can recoup maybe $150+ from your purchase price by selling the magazine to a collector and purchasing a Mec gar or other reliable after market magazine. Nice find! |

Hi Mike, Welcome to the forum! The top half of your Luger is indeed from a 1939 Mauser, but the bottom half (the frame) is from an Imperial era Erfurt. However, it does look like a great shooter.

Nice shooter. You are fortunate - it's obviously quite reliable. How far away from the targets were you shooting?

First of all welcome to this forum. Yes it is a nice Erfurt frame with a top made by MAUSER in 1939. It has been refurbished, but if the barrel is ok and you sometimes go to the range with some cartridges not too strong I'm sure you'll enjoy your Luger for quite a long time.

Welcome to the forum, and it appears that you have a reliable shooter. That is great as they are a lot of fun to shoot, and no fear of having a part break since it is a parts Luger....Enjoy!!

i don't suppose the "07" sn of your luger was responsible for you to go out & shoot a hundred rounds
this is one of THE best forums and a lot of super nice collectors with knowledge to share, unlike other forums. welcome |

Fester,
If you don't already have a "shooter" magazine, I will give you $100 and a brand new Mec-gar nickel mag in trade for your wood bottom magazine. You can PM me if interested, - Geo
