He is of the first military serial numbered 1-1000 delivered on 1901. with only swiss cross acceptance marks on the receiver, on the barrel, on the back frame and also on the rear link. Monsieur Regnier is also the proud owner of Borchardt-Luger #6. Did he take four years to respond to your e-mail or did you e-mail him repeatedly?

His level of knowledge may be good, but his mail etiquette leaves a lot to be desired. I think it is mostly caused by an infamiliarity with today's technology and the English language.
I asked him some questions on Swiss production years ago, and all I got was a 'for sale' add in reply. He has been removed from my list of useful consulting contacts since then |

Photos of #26 available? Seems like I have seen it before but my memory has fuzzed over (again).

Ron,
Number 26 is what got me onto the Forum originally. It walked into the small gun shop on Marco Island, Florida and we were attemting to authenticate it back then. There were many caveats, not the least of which was an off center number 26 on the front of the frame, which although completely clean, led some to believe that a first digit might have been removed. I walked away from the gun when I realized two other Lugers the owner of "#26" had were clearly spurious and he resisted any attempt to seriously have it looked at, claiming he had sent the gun off to Simpson's, from whom I never heard any opinion back from the owner. It was at this time that I had written Mr. Regnier. If there is any way to go back to my first ten posts, or so, photos of this gun should still be there. |
