Default Craigslist Gun

I found this on Craigslist today:

UP FOR TRADE. 1949 ruger red eagle 22-LR with two 10 round magazines, triple k magazine pouch holster,200 rounds of ammo, its a good little pistol shoots really good but as it is now it dose jam I ordered a new recoil assembly, rebound spring and spring support.the parts should be here by Friday at the latest I am 100% sure this will fix the problem I will not trade it until the parts have been installed and it has been tested.I have researched this pistol with help from friends, the web,and buy calling ruger if my research is correct there were only 26.000 ever shipped out with the red logo and this serial number matches the one with this logo I will be sending out for a letter of authenticity soon I will consider trades on other firearms full or part trades.

As a package, $500 isn't that bad. The Red Hawk, (not eagle) is rare and has some collector's value, (although usually including the box and papers). When Alexander Sturm died, the Hawk was changed to black to honor is memory. It has been black ever since with the exception of an occasional conmemorative.

No, both. It looks like the side showing lost its Red Hawk.

very much a price reducer, it's not really a red hawk with out the correct grips, this was my first .22 auto and i still have it, and it to has the red hawk worn off of it. wonder how the ad stayed on cragslist , they do not allow firearms.

The ad was only up about 30 minutes before some one flagged it. I was lucky enough to copy it so I could contact him. He is interested in trading me for a Remington model 14 30 cal pump I have. As of now we are set to meet this saturday.

He said he contacted Ruger and they will re-do the red. Wonder if it would be worth doing?

We are still lucky enough to be able to buy 22 ammo but are limited to 2 - 50 rnd boxes per customer.

I'd be tempted to offer $100 as is But then again, I also believe in miracles.

He took it to a gun shop saturday. Seems Ruger sent him the wrong parts. Any way they were able to get it working correctly. Now he wants to hang on to it...lol

A Mark 2's parts will not work in a Mark 1. I think there are even two phases of Mark 1's that don't interchange.

I'm shocked Ruger shipped him ANY parts. That is not their general policy.

Does sound odd, i have only known them to want the guns returned to them.

Exactly. Ruger normally does not sell parts. They insist the gun be returned to them for repair.
