80%-90%-95%-98%??????
While out doing some window shopping on the net, I noticed when giving the % of condition/bluing/straw, everybody is different. I took notice on two sites, both have a 1940 Banner Police, one is rated 98% and the other 94%. Price is $100. difference with the 94% item with the extra hundred bucks but here's the thing, both have real good photos of all angles and my conclusion is, the 94% is more like the 98% and vice-a-versa. This I found throughout shopping on other sites also, it's not a one-time difference I've noticed...any comments?

everyone has their own perception of bluing and straw remaining
Someone once told me I should use the 'Blue Book' as they have examples, but I never liked their examples because of guns like colt Single Actions etc... What I would like to see is a compilation of lugers in various poses, left, right, front grip, rear grip, top all on one page each and then show about 20 lugers from almost not wear to 98%+ then make a PDF out of it Could float it out and get semi-agreement of what folks thought of bluing and strawing If I had the energy, I would do this Ed

Geritol does wonders.............. Some kind of uniformity would be nice when judging conditions but there are more important things to wonder and worry about I guess.

As a dealer on GB I stopped using % ratings entirely and if asked will not give a % number. Just too controversial. Everyone has a different view. The key is to show many crystal clear close up photos. Then the buyer can make up his own rating.

I've just about made that so, that I do visit sites that provide good all around photos but the % that they do post does draw my attention and I go from there.
