I think I have solved the mystery of the bluing newness. In Mr. Kenyon's, Lugers at Random, on page 152, "1906 Navy first Issue...quite often the altered examples were refinished at the time of alteration and a nearly "original" appearance was attained.
Seems to make sense to me.thanks Jack |
