Matching numbers
Is it true that a double date luger won't have matching numbers? I equal shape which would be more desirable a 1915/1920 double date or a 1929 matching number

Not necessarily true. The second "date" (the Weimar era 1920) is not a date at all, but a Weimar goverment property mark.
If a pistol was received by them with a matching mag, there is no reason to supposed it would not have left with that matching mag after the property mark was added. |

I think that is an old myth by either hucksters or folks who saw a few mismatched ones...

[QUOTE=alanint;218551]Not necessarily true. The second "date" (the Weimar era 1920) is not a date at all, but a Weimar goverment property mark.
For informative purposes, I may have known this answer at one time. I do know it dose not represent a year. But how is this not a date and only a property mark? What year was the 1920 mark applied and why this number not a date? Just seems a little confusing to many of our new members. Bob Last edited by Nomadr; 08-22-2012 at 07:51 AM. Reason: spell check |
