Default O tempora o mores...

-$560 only for a wonderful "Mars" Berlin 1915 LP08 pigskin holster,
-$1,125 only for a mint AWM 1915 LP08 early holster....
that's the highest bids placed on these two very rare holsters for sale recently on ebay (reserve not met of course).
I remember I had to pay $ 3,300 in 2008 ( EUR 2,220 at the time) on ebay for my 1st Mars pigskin LP08 holster, and the fight had been very hard for the auction ! I paid my 2nd MARS pigskin holster EUR 1,500 one year later (2009).
As to my mint AWM 1915 LP08 holster, I paid it EUR 2,000 ( I think $ 2,500+) in 2009 on SIMPSON...
My 2nd very rare Corduroy LP08 holster, that I paid EUR 1,500+ a few years ago, what is it worth now ???
Okay, I may have paid too much for my holsters at the time ( I don't believe it), but prices are now quite ridiculous, this is a nonsense !
This world is becoming mad.

Hi Christian, I, too, had me eye on those holsters, and would have been more interested myself if I hadn't just purchased this rig (see link). I think the market for really high end leather is stronger in Europe, where collectors are more restricted from buying guns and turn to other collectibles instead. As to the "MARS" holster, it was handicapped by really awful photos as well. Best regards, Norm

Hello Norm,
I saw your holster on the Gunboard forum..this is really a pure beauty, congratulations ! Just a question about the maker, J.F.C. Lucas. Are you sure this is lucas and not Ludewig ? Please have a look on the attached photos. I know that Lucas is on the "official" makers list, but... this Lucas might (should ?) be Ludewig I think, on your holster and on the maker list either...please confirm. Thanks in advance.
I think you are right about the european market values. Everybody knows that the price of these rare early holsters have lowered a lot, I am not sure this is due only to the economics crisis.
Best to you, christian.

Hi Christian, I think you are correct. I took a closer look at my holster, and the last legible letter in the name looks more like a D than a C. Thanks for the correction! Best regards, Norm
