Hi All. I was hoping to get some information and value on this Luger.

Nice looking 41/42 Mauser? The Luger was made in early 1941. As for the Value some more details will be needed. Is the magazine Matching? Are Both Grips #ed? Are all external and internal parts Matching?

Hi Mike,
All parts are original and matching sn but the mag does not match. Please explain what you are asking about the grips? I have never taken them off and dont know how..lol

The Grips on the inside should have the last 2 digits of the serial # or be proofed 655. Looks like a real nice Luger.

Use a good fitting screw driver or a Luger loading tool and very carefully remove the screw holding the RIGHT Side grip. Remove the magazine and gently push the RIGHT side grip from inside the magazine well using only your finger. You should then be able to examine markings on the right grip and, through the open grip assembly from the right side, the LEFT grip.

I'd probably look up into the mag well with a small light... I'd not risk breaking the grips, untill I have had a few lesser condition Luger disassemblies under my belt... first... Or, just take the right hand grip off, it is less prone to breakage...
It looks right, and is a desirable variation, in great shape... Just a guess, but i'm guessing approx. 2k... maybe??.. Give or take a few 100...

G.T. Good Point. Don't want the Million Dollar Chip or the screws boogered. I also agree with your around 2k estimate. I would surely drop decent money on it.

ok..removed the right side..Thanks George it was very easy. I saw no serial # But it did have a "M" and then by it..hard to see in the picture. It had the same proof mark "eagle 655"

I'd need to see more photos, including the grip straps, but I'm just not seeing $2K therre. Especially in today's market.

With the eargle 655 on a later Mauser I suspect that it is correct.

Hi David. I can post pics of grip straps if you want to see them. However there are no markings on them.

Thanks Mike, I thought, as did George, that probaly descression is the better part of valor on the new owner grip removal, It's just too easy to turn a nice collectible unit into something less... I think that it's a nice unit same as you, it would look nice in any collection.. Hi David, I am really not sure in todays market, as times are getting tougher, with no end in sight... But, a few years back, that variation was, and still is, I'd guess, a pretty rare example, and I really think it might even now, bring more then 2K stated.. .. A lot of them, 41-42's, were upgraded by un-knowing collectors to Black Widow status back when it first became the craz and BW grip sets were more plentiful... Finding a 41-42 is pretty tough, an obiviously un-messed with one would bring a preminum... I'd like a shot at it if it comes up for sale... as I've never had a chance to have one in hand..

BTW, it the middle of a mid-night run to the toilet, I had to smile... The thought crossed my mind, The flu or food posioning, certainly is a great lesson in humility.. It treats kings and paupers, rich or poor all the same.. It kinda brings you back to being real happy with life when you get to feeling better..

Hi Travis, It's hard to assess finish from photos, and yours are not the best, but if this gun is original (which I believe it is), then it is well worth $2,000.00. A 41 42 is a scarce variation.. Regards, Norm

The grips with a 655 proof would make them correct. Most of the 41/42 codes that I have done research on are not #ed but are 655 proofed.

Thanks Norm the finnish is actually pretty good except in just a few spots i will post better pics soon. The gun was passed down to me thirty years ago and is in the same condition as it was when my uncle brought it back from the war. I only take it out and admire it and give it a light coat of oil. I actualy fired it once thirty years ago and it shot flawlessly.

I missed seeing the serial suffix. All 41/42 PO8s should be in the N (mostly), O or P suffix ranges. TH

Are you referring to the "n" under the serial number? It is there if that's what you are asking.
