Are police HSc more desirable?
I have a chance to obtain a police Hsc E/L on left side of trigger guard are they the more desirable one compare to Army, Luftwaffe etc regardless of its condition?

To me the order of desire would be Navy, Luftwaffe, Police, Army.

Add French Occupation, Postwar Mauser and Postwar Mauser for Interarms to the list, together with Renato Gamba and the SIG clones

When it is a police pistol does that mean they were used by the Gestapo or just normal police?

Apparently there’s no much love for the HSc, so I think I should let this go because the resale value is not going to be good as less interest in this pistol?

Can you get some pics to post?
Could have been used by normal or secret police would be my guess. If condition is good and depending on price would be the motivating factors for me regardless of who it was contracted for. I would take a very good condition army pistol over a beat up police pistol unless it was a real steal price wise to use as a shooter. There were generally fewer German or occupied countries police pistols made than Army, Navy even less. As far as resale value it depends, are you gonna keep it for 5 or 10 years or look to turn it over in a year or less. Check gunbroker and see what folks are asking as a starting price on them and then check if they are getting that price or higher when the auction ends. One thing is for sure the prices won't go down, even if you over pay today if you are in it for the long haul you will never lose.

The HSc is a nice pistol which has had an image problem for one reason or another. Not that surprising when you know it had to compete with classics like the P38 and P08 while also being influenced by the Walther PP/K on which it was based.
Add to that a rather short service history and a not that succesfull reintroduction in the 1960s and 70s. But compared to the M1914 and M1934 pistols, and certainly in todays standards it is a nice, well made pistol that was quite far ahead of its time in shape and style. No wonder that several modern companies carried on their variations of the design. |
