1902 Carbine w/Amer. Eagle crest....
showed up at the OGCA meet again. Didnt handle it but I looked carefully at the possibility of refinish or a difference in color of the receiver versus the adjacent parts........I am not questioning the finish. Tell me again, where do we stand on the possibilities of this 1902 Carbine w/American Eagle crest being correct/original??? What else is there to look at/for???? Dave was at the same show, but I didnt go back for the second day, so we didnt discuss this there. I wonder if a real goody is being passed over because of the fear of counterfeits we have all been forced to adopt???
Question rephrased sunday evening. PJHeck

American eagles have been reported on the chambers of '02 carbines and I have seen one. I have no idea how many were produced. The color difference in the finish between the recveiver and the rest of the carbine would be suspect to me as the early DWM lugers, and especially carbines, were beautifully rust blued and color matched.
