Have Artillary 9mm 8" all matchung s/n 2778 dated 1916 with 1920 above,slightly offset to the right.Was under the impression all Lugers had to be under 4" after ww1 ( this pistol was liberated in Germany after ww2.) any info on this model would be be most welcome. pic enc.

Although many artillery lugers and navy were shortened to 4 inches, this did not always happen.

By the way, I have a double date Erfurt Artillery 1920 over 1914 so there are a few of them out there. This one came in for restoration and has unit marking on the grip strap. I made a post about them in the UNIT MARKINGS section.
